How to dress for success and find your work-drobe

Whether you’re prepping for a big interview, a major business meeting, or you just want to update your wardrobe, shake things up with these easy tips

Clothes can have a major impact on how you feel, think and portray yourself. That’s why having a work wardrobe that makes you feel comfortable and confident can drastically improve your performance at work.

Find inspiration

Of course, your mind probably went straight to Pinterest, which is understandable, as it’s the perfect place to find inspiration. However, it is by no means the only place. If you’re in search of your niche, keep an eye out everywhere you go. We’re talking about in magazines, movies and on social media, but you can also draw inspiration from friends, colleagues or even from strangers when you’re out and about.

Create a capsule wardrobe

For those that don’t know, a capsule wardrobe literally means having a few staple items that work in many different ways, so you can mix and match them to create ‘new’ outfits. Capsule wardrobes will save you time planning outfits and money (you’ll be less likely to splurge on that daring jacket that wasn’t quite you). Once you’ve found your style, buy a few staple tops, bottoms, shoes and coats – and voilà!

Choose slow fashion

Slow fashion garments may come with a slightly higher price tag, but you’ll be getting much more bang for your buck. Slow fashion clothes are (more often than not) made to a higher quality with better materials, so they’ll last you throughout the years. You can often just tell when something is good quality, and it will make you feel better, too. Oh, and of course you’ll be doing the environment a favour!

Find clothing that fit you – well!

Sure, this isn’t always the easiest task, and it can often involve browsing a lot of different retailers and having many unsatisfying trips to the dressing room. But once you create outfits that complement your style and body shape, you’ll ooze confidence — and that will have a fantastic impact on how you conduct yourself in the workplace.

Wear what’s good for you

Without a doubt, this is the most important point. Creating a style and buying sparkly new clothes is no good unless that’s what you want; there’s no point buying garments that play on insecurities or put you out of your comfort zone. Especially at work, you need to wear what will help boost your confidence and leave you feeling fantastic – this way, you’ll alway be dressing for success.
